Hotter Than Hot

HOTTER THAN HOT might just be one of my new favourite Langdon shorts. Harry plays a pyromaniac of all things, who is chasing a fire engine when Edgar Kennedy bribes him to take a ‘Dear John’ letter to Thelma Todd’s apartment. Hotter synonyms, hotter pronunciation, hotter translation, English dictionary definition of hotter. Hotter, hottest 1. Having or giving off heat; capable of burning.

FAQ HHH 2021

WHAT DAY IS THE 2021 HOTTER’N HELL HUNDRED ENDURANCE RIDE?

Saturday August 28, 2021.

WHEN WILL REGISTRATION OPEN?

Registration for the 2021 Hotter’N Hell Hundred Events will open at 12:01 AM April 1, 2021. (No this is not an April Fools Joke) The fluidity of the current events surrounding COVID 19 will have settled down by the end of the 1st quarter and folks will be better prepared to register for late summer activities. We will offer the early registration discount for the month of April (April 1st through April 30th). Regular registration prices will take effect May 1st.

WHAT CHANGES WILL WE SEE FOR 2021 HHH?

We will offer registration for both a live-in-person and virtual option for each of the HHH Events - in fact - we are looking at an option where folks can “DOUBLE DIP” and do both options of their chosen event.

We anticipate that health and safety concerns may require some changes to the activities that we have loved for the past 39 years. As we identify those adjustments we will share them on this website and the Hotter’N Hell 100 Facebook page.

We also hope that by the end of June 2021 most of our riders and volunteers that want the COVID-19 vaccine will have had the opportunity to receive it.

How do I know if my 2020 HHH registration deferral was recorded?

Everyone that requested to defer their 2020 HHH events registration in a timely manner (June 15, 2020) will receive an email from BikeReg in March 2021 with a one time use coupon code to register for the 2021 HHH Weekend Events. Beginning April 1, 2021 you will then sign in to the HHH 2021 BikeReg page and complete your registration. If for some reason you can’t join us in 2021 the coupon code may be used the following year.

What happened to the Endurance Ride Family Discount option?

The Family Discount of $5 per registration for family members living in the same household has not been renewed for 2021. We will again distribute local free registration coupons for families to register for the 10k ride.

2020 HHH RIDE Guide Magazine

May 14, 2020

This morning, Hotter’N Hell Hundred - in accordance with local government and public health guidance - made the difficult decision to modify its onsite 2020 HHH weekend activities (August 27 to 30) in Wichita Falls, TX because of the dangers the COVID-19 Virus poses to the safety and health of our riders, runners, volunteers and community.

HHH will instead offer a VIRTUAL EVENT, where participants can safely ride or run their HHH events, respectful of social distancing, in their own hometowns. To set the mood and celebrate our participants’ accomplishments, HHH will mail each virtual cyclist and runner their official 2020 HHH ride t-shirt and finisher’s medal.

We are confident that with the longtime support of our participants, volunteers, sponsors and community that HHH will return in 2021, stronger than ever. On August 28, 2021, HHH will celebrate its 40th anniversary – the 140th anniversary of the founding of Wichita Falls.

For the 1,700 riders and runners who have already registered for the 2020 HHH, each will have their 2020 registration shifted to a 2020 virtual event. If they wish to defer their 2020 registration to the 2021 Hotter’N Hell Hundred weekend or donate their 2020 registration fees to the United Regional Foundation / Children’s Miracle Network just click on the link: www.bikereg.com/edit/hotternhell102. They will input their email and will get instructions to change their election. These options will end Monday, June 15th.

Cyclists and runners who have not already registered for the 2020 HHH may start signing up for the VIRTUAL HHH activities at www.hh100.org. They may register for the Endurance Ride, the Mountain Bike Races, the Trail Runs and/or the Grava Del Fuego gravel grind. All participants will receive shirts and medals and are encouraged to submit pictures of themselves - after they’ve completed their events - to the hh100.org website or the HHH Facebook social media pages.

FAQ - Virtual HHH 2020

1) If I am already signed up for a 2020 HHH event, what are my options for this year? How long do I have before those options disappear?

Those who already registered before May 15th have had their registration automatically shifted to the virtual events. If you wish to defer your registration to the 2021 Hotter’N Hell Hundred weekend or donate your registration to the United Regional Foundation’s Children’s Miracle Network, click on www.bikereg.com/edit/hotternhell102 . You will be requested to enter your email used for registration and then will be sent instructions on how to select the option of your choice.

If you are financially strained due to COVID-19 shutdown and need a refund, email info@hh100.org and we will facilitate that through BikeReg.com.

Those options close Monday, June 15, 2020

2) How do I register for a virtual HHH event like the ride, Grava del Fuego gravel grind, Triple Threat, trail run or mountain bike ride? When will you send me my ride shirt and finisher’s medal? How do I get a virtual bib number?

You may register for any of the virtual events at www.hh100.org/sign-up and click on BikeReg. Or, you can click directly on Bikereg at https://www.bikereg.com/45434.

We will send registered virtual riders their ride t-shirt and finisher’s medal as soon as we receive them, and then once a week after that first shipment. The virtual bib number will be available through a link on our hh100.org website, as soon as we establish it. There will also be a link on the website to download your event completion certificate.

3) Will registration prices increase on June 1? When do registrations for the 2020 HHH end? How long do I have to complete my HHH event(s)?

Registration prices will remain the same through 7 a.m. Saturday August 29, when registration ends. Participants should complete all HHH events by Sunday Aug. 30.

4) Where can I send my sweaty picture after I complete the event to get posted online at HHH for everyone to see?

You may send it to either www.facebook.com/groups/HotterNHell100/ or to our HHH Facebook.com photography page at www.facebook.com/groups/897851440252187/

5) What is a virtual rest stop?

A virtual rest stop is one where a rider’s family or friends arrange to meet the cyclist at a specific location on their ride with water, PowerAde, and/or snacks.

6) Does riding the 2021 HHH virtually break my streak of doing X number of HHH’s in a row?

Absolutely not. No asterisks.

7) Do I have to prove I did my ride or run? And, is really it bragging if I post my terrific Garmin results online for my training and/or the actual event?

You can send your ride or run information in to us, if you wish, and post it with your picture. Bragging is absolutely fine – just know there’s always someone out there who is faster than you ;)

8) Can I still buy a 2020 HHH jersey?

Absolutely. Please click on www.store.hh100.org and order there. We ship out Monday through Friday via priority mail with a receipt and a tracking number.

9) Will there be a Saturday road race in 2020?

Not in 2020

10) Is it better to ride a trainer in my bathroom with the heater on, or in my attic, in order to approximate the late August HHH conditions? How do I approximate wind?

People have done both, but we’ve been told that a Texas attic in August is pretty brutal. Please do not fall through the ceiling (we’ve also been told that’s a little tough to explain to your insurance company). Approximating head wind is as easy as changing your gears, but we don’t know how to approximate a tail wind.

11) How can we support HHH in 2020 and put them in better position to do their 40th anniversary ride on August 28, 2021?

Please register to ride a virtual 2020 event. We’d love to see people safely riding in their hometown on their favorite route or on their trainer. Let’s make the 2020 HHH the best we can make it.

12) So we did our HHH virtual ride and liked it a lot: is it possible that HHH will keep this as an option going forward for future rides?

Yes, we would like to, especially for who live far away and even on other continents.

The 2020 HHH Virtual Registration will open May 15, 2020

When searching for a way to celebrate the Wichita Falls centennial in 1982, Roby Christie, of the Wichita Falls Bicycle Club, proposed a bicycle ride – 100 miles in 100 degree heat, coining the name: Hotter’N Hell Hundred.

The rest is hotter'n hell history

Hotter'N Hell Hundred is the culmination of hard work, devotion, and love from our volunteers, sponsors, and riders. We are always giving back to the community that makes it all possible.
